Friday Link Love - Yard “Sailing” Edition

by That One Caveman on June 6, 2008

Today seems to have kicked off yard sale season in my area. The news completely missed us, but our neighborhood is having its annual yard sale today and tomorrow.

My wife’s already out there shopping for baby and children’s clothing, furniture, toys, and decorations. She even stumbled upon a lucky find of a queen-size bed and chest of drawers for us! We’ve been needing both for quite some time. (I’m a very “active” sleeper and my wife could really use some safe space on the bed…)

When it comes to yard sales, my wife is quite the haggler. I always took her as being too timid to do that, but she’s proved herself today! For instance, the bed and drawers were initially going for $175 but she negotiated her way down to $140. She also set up some great deals on a stack of children’s books and learning toys.

While my wife’s strolling around outfitting our home with new (to us) furniture and decorations on-the-cheap, I’m glad to be in my office enjoying the air conditioner as I share a bit of link love with my fellow PF bloggers:

Starting out the week, Pinyo graciously accepted my article, Frugal Living Bandaid: Give Yourself an Allowance, into the Carnival of Personal Finance #155. If Moolanomy isn’t already in your feed reader, you’re doing yourself a huge injustice!

Thanks for including me in the roundup! I’m with you, it’s too blasted hot for yard sales. Although, we could really use a new sofa and I’ve been watching the papers for any moving sales.

It’s a bit hot here for yard sales too. Which works just fine for me—no money spent on yard sales. And I don’t have a yard, so I couldn’t have my own very easily.

Thanks for including me in the roundup! :)
